  • Profile

Gretchen enjoys putting her problem-solving skills to work. She has the ability to understand needs in a given situation, and works hard to take the burden off of those needing help. After passing the California Bar exam, Gretchen assisted clients with contracts, LLC formation, drafting business lease agreements, and registering trademarks. When Gretchen moved to Utah in 2010 her focus switched to family law, criminal defense, and estate planning. Gretchen has assisted clients with guardianships, adoptions, divorce, custody disputes, juvenile defense, and parental defense. Gretchen has also prepared wills and trusts, litigated in probate court, and represented clients in civil litigation. She worked as a Public Defender for Vernal City Justice Court, then in 2013 she began working full time as a Guardian Ad Litem in the juvenile courts. Gretchen is thrilled to be a part of the Pearson Butler team where she can help empower those with whom she works.

Both Gretchen and her husband are educators and appreciate the art of helping others learn and grow. Not only has Gretchen enjoyed a successful career as an attorney, she has also performed professionally as a concert pianist, was a staff accompanist and music professor for many years, and even wrote a college textbook for music theory classes.

Gretchen grew up at the beach in Southern California. She enjoyed playing keyboards with the South Coast Symphony and LA Lawyers Philharmonic. Gretchen’s children have now all moved close to her in Utah, which affords her the wonderful opportunity to be a fun grandmother!
